Live
Live is a digital, multi-frequency receiver (63–77 kHz) with precise millisecond-level timestamping for fine-scale positioning. It instantly transmits detections via RS-485, and its compact, rugged design makes it ideal for harsh environments where space is limited. Designed with a strong focus on energy efficiency, Live can operate directly from your field laptop or run for months - or even years - on small battery packs.

Key Advantages
Advanced Digital Signal-Processing
Dynamic signal thresholding and SNR-based detection filtering provide longer range, reduced code collisions, and cleaner data in noisy environments.
Up To 3 Frequencies Simultaenously
Use multiple frequencies at the same time to double or triple the amount of transmitters in the same area without sacrificing data throughput
Millisecond Precise Timestamping
Precise millisecond timestamping allowing for fine scale positioning
Real-Time Data Output
Real-time data output of acoustic detections using RS-485
Robust and Compact Design
Robust and compact design suitable for harsh environments with limited space
Low Power Consumption
Very low power consumption allowing for continous operation for several years on small battery packs
Modular Design
With its modular design, Live can be easily combined with other equipment from Thelma Biotel, such as Link LoRa, Deckbox and Focus Kit.
Robust Digital Multi-Frequency Acoustic Receceiver for Rough Environments
The compact and rugged form factor of the receiver allows for installation in rough environments where space may be limited while also keeping the sensitive acoustic element protected.

How it works
Live is a versatile receiver with transmitting capabilities that can be used in many settings for multiple purposes.
Use in DeckBox
Use the included Live Receiver via Bluetooth in the DeckBox Field Kit for easy use in the field.
Use with classic USB
If you prefer to use your own PC and a traditional USB port you can with our USB cable that is compatible with the Live receiver
Use in Link LoRa
Link LoRa is a topside unit with a LoRa antenna and battery. Connect the Live receiver with cable and you can get started with Remote Real-Time Tracking.
Use in your system
Live is using RS-485 and we provide an open interface that you can easily deploy for your own custom setups, for example in a PLS.
Frequently used together

Focus - Directional Amplifier Field Kit
The Thelma Biotel Focus – Directional Amplifier Field Kit is a precision-engineered acoustic reflector that fits seamlessly over the standard Live transceiver. It delivers powerful signal amplification within ±15° of your target. Designed for use with the DeckBox, the Focus extends your operational range and pinpoints the bearing of any acoustic transmitter. It is essential for maintaining a safe communication distance when working with the TBR 800 Release – Deep model, and we recommend it for all Release receivers operating at depths greater than 200 m.

DeckBox Field Kit
The DeckBox is a versatile topside kit for manual logging of acoustic transmitters, retrieving TBR 800 Release units, and performing status checks on deployed equipment. With its rugged, waterproof tablet and our free LiveView software, you get flexible, real-time control and monitoring right in the field.

Link LoRa
Link LoRa gives you instant access to critical underwater data. Watch detections unfold in real time, track live sensor data, and download complete datasets as they are generated. Deploy multiple nodes equipped with Live receivers and Link LoRa units to cover entire areas, with each node having a transmission range of up to 5 km.

LiveView
LiveView is the Live tracking and data visualization software delivered by Thelma Biotel. It provides live streaming of acoustic data to your computer or with the Deckbox field kit. LiveView is used as a visual reference when starting and stopping transmitters, for active tracking, communicating with deployed TBR family receivers, and calling up acoustic releases.
